Get the scoop on Baltimore's nightlife and offbeat events
Sounds of the season
One of my favorite songs says "leaving is hard," but after being gone for a while, I'd say coming back is harder. Somehow autumn snuck up on me again. It's the best season, but it's tricky like that.
Anyone been to High Zero yet this week? It ends this Sunday, so if you're up for some bizarre ear candy, check it out.
Tonight, the Ed Schrader Show comes back to the Metro. The really cool thing about this Wham City production: David Cross was on it, and so was I. That's likely the last time I'll ever be able to compare myself to David Cross sadly. Also tonight is the City Paper's "Best of Baltimore" Party, which if you've ever been, you know should be called, "Everyone in Baltimore, get drunk for free fast." It only lasts three hours, but they're a fun three hours.
Friday the Squaaks will be at the Metro, and around the corner the Windup Space has a new art show inspired by green. On the Station North tip, I'm putting together a Halloween party at 14 North Ave. (next door to Windup) on the 24th (art opening on the 11th) called Baltimonster, so check it out.
Saturday Locus Magazine releases Issue 5 at Maryland Art Place. A $10 cover gets you a copy of the magazine, drinks, and a night of music from Andy Abelow, Teenage Souls, Beans, and The Owls Go. If you've never been to a party at MAP, def. drop in because it's a nice little spot.
Squeeze the last days of summer out of the air with a walk on the Gwynns Falls Trail. The trail will feature more than 20 large sculptures of green-themed art through November.
All this green stuff makes me want to start and anti-environmental movement....jk, don't get agro.
